Steve appears to be a Labrador Retriever/Terrier mix about 2 years old, and just the yummiest milk chocolate color! He's always on and ready for action, but when playtime's done he's okay with hanging out and chilling. Toys - especially balls - are great fun, and being toy and treat motivated should make training a snap. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes and this will be especially important for Steve. He's got LOTS of energy and will need a strong leader and consistent training, as well as lots of exercise, in order to be the well-mannered boy we know he can be. A fenced yard is the ideal safe place for your pup to romp and play, but if Steve hasn't had enough exercise and gets bored, he'll climb the fence and seek adventure. If a fenced yard isn't an option, then LOTS of daily leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a dog park is the next best thing. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental exercise - think puzzle toys, busy feeders, treat dispensing toys, and games. Steve will need to be house trained and crate trained. He walks on a leash and will need continued work on this, as he tends to pull when he's excited. He's good with other dogs and is able to be distracted or redirected when small animals (i.e., kitties, etc.) are encountered. His reaction is playful when meeting children - his exuberance may be too much for small children, who may be accidentally knocked down.

Steve's Backstory: He was rescued by an Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) supporter and of the 250 dogs at the rescue, almost every time someone walks in the back, they ask about him. His happy, puppy energy and bright eyes tend to draw people in. He'll make a great dog for some lucky individual or family!
